Bangor Academy pupils mark Europe Day 2014Mrs Coulter and her merry band of volunteers laid on a feast of fun activities and food to mark 64 years since the foundation of what has become the European Union.

Pupils took the cuisine challenge which provided delicious samples of cheese and continental meats to try as well as paella, quiche lorraine, humus and a tempting table of desserts. Sweet treats like profiteroles,  tarte au citron and Black Forest Gateau were an obvious hit but the empty savoury platters were a testament to our pupils’ cosmopolitan tastes. It turns out there is such a thing as a free lunch - if you arrive early enough to beat the crowds on Europe Day!

Year 13 students tested Year 8’s European geographical knowledge and ran a quiz on famous landmarks in Europe for everyone else as they digested their continental cuisine. Mrs Coulter would like to thank all those who helped run the event and to the pupils who attended. It is an extremely popular event which raises awareness of the European Union and celebrates peace and unity in Europe.
