Academy Accelerates into first place at the Schools’ Grand Prix. The first competition faced by the Academy’s newly formed Model Car Racing Club resulted in a fantastic first podium place for remote control racers, Finlay  and Ben last weekend.

Our young engineers were competing in the annual Forestside Schools’ Grand Prix held at Wellington College, Belfast and sponsored by the Ulster Model Car Club, Rennick’s Modeltune, Construction Joints and Lambert Smith Hampton.

The racing duo were helped to victory by fellow pupil, Andrew and Technology teacher, Mr Pollock. The team built the Tamya TT02 electric touring car in school, designed the livery, sprayed it, tuned the chassis and then Finlay and Ben raced it. They achieved a  decisive victory in their category against Bangor Grammar; Assumption Grammar; Friends, Lisburn; Our Lady and St. Patrick’s, Knock; Aquinas Grammar and Larne High School.

Congratulations!
