 Laughs, Lutes and Elizabethan London

Year 8 watched ‘Bill’ at the Odeon in Victoria Square to find out what might have happened during William Shakespeare’s ‘lost years’.

Over 230 Year 8 pupils enjoyed the comedy about William Shakespeare by the team from Horrible Histories as part of the Into Film festival. Lots of jokes, a plot to kill the Queen (not quite historically accurate but introducing some key Elizabethan figures)and references to real events like the plague made for a fun introduction to Shakespeare.

We heard some famous lines from Macbeth, Hamlet made an appearance and, the settings and costumes have helped Year 8 get a sense of the times in which Shakespeare wrote.
