Going Dutch - Again!A second exchange trip with another round of Year 9 pupils has cemented connections with Dutch link school Jac P. Thijsse College in the Netherlands, just ahead of Miss Burns attending the latest eTwinning International Conference in Nottingham.

Pupils in 9A2 have been in contact through the International Schools e-twinning scheme which allows pupils to build educational relationships with their peers in other countries.  The Academy pupils have made contact via Skype and email in preparation for this much anticipated visit.

Pupils and teachers enjoyed a packed itinerary of shared excursions and lessons during the four day trip. Dutch pupils sampled lesson in Art, Home Economics, History and Geography, everyone got to know each other in group activities in Bangor and they all learned about the culture and history of Northern Ireland during a visit to Crumlin Road Gaol, Belfast City Hall and the peace wall in West Belfast.

Miss Burns then spent the weekend at the eTwinning international conference at the National College for Teaching and Leadership in Nottingham, bringing lots of ideas about how her most recent eTwinning project was successful.  Timing is everything!

Here are some of  9A2's thoughts of the experience:

“E-Twinning was so much fun. Everyone form Holland was so nice and I can’t wait to see them all again next year. Thanks Miss Burns for organising it.”  Charlotte

“What a good experience! We had a  lot of fun and we met people we would not normally meet. I can’t wait to go to Holland next year.” Codie

“E-Twinning with the Netherlands was a great and really unique experience. I loved all the activities at Gannaway.” Jake
