Top Karate International, Levi, from Bangor Academy and Sixth Form College added another championship title to her repertoire when she took a gold medal at the WIKF British Karate championships in Leicester, East Midlands.

Levi, a sixteen year old AS Level student, took time out from her studies to fly the flag for Northern Ireland in the national event. She brought home both gold and bronze medals, topped off by a ‘champion’ trophy; recognition that she is now British Champion

Hot on the heels of her success in Leicester, Levi has been invited to join the England team for training in preparation for the European Karate Champions which are being hosted in Venice in late September 2010.

The Bangor Academy school girl has been trained by Robert (Bobby) Hamilton who has decades of coaching experience, in addition too numerous accolades, to his name.  Bobby has been delighted with Levi’s progress in the last year which he puts down to course attendance and enthusiasm during training.  He commented: ‘I am delighted with Levi’s performance. She has shown great promise in her first British tournament.’

Everyone at Bangor Academy wishes Levi victory in Venice at the European Championships on 25th and 26th September. We will update you…
