Academy staff are fund-raising.What do a Soup Dragon, moustaches and breezy knees have in common?

You can’t fault our fund-raisers for their creativity! We have our very own Soup Dragon (aka Mrs Macartney) making delicious soup every week to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, Pretty in Pink and the Lagan Dragons. There is already £750 in the pot and we don’t doubt her £1000 target will be exceeded.

Meanwhile Mr Muir has been learning his steps for this Friday’s dance competition Strictly Come Parkinson’s at the Stormont Hotel. He is exhausted! He has been learning the jive and perfecting ‘the breezy knees’ for the Charleston. He is also pretty anxious about making the three lifts he needs to execute go with a bang rather than a bump. Fortunately he is on target to raise the money he wants to donate to Parkinson’s UK.

Finally our rugby coaches Mr Coey and Mr Montgomery are growing moustaches for Movember - the men’s health charity and Marie Curie. They are definitely going for a Dick Strawbridge look rather than Poirot. Currently a recent pupil survey favours Mr Montgomery’s effort but with the rest of the month to go Mr Coey has room to improve! All the hairy best gentlemen.

Thanks to all the pupils and staff who have donated. You can still add to these fundraisers if you haven’t already by seeing the relevant teachers or dropping money into reception.
