Sports-NewsSome you win, some you lose!

Congratulations to the Year 11 and Year 9 football teams who are now U15 and U13 North Down Secondary Schools' League Champions respectively. The U13 team achieved a decisive victory against Knockbreda with a 6-0 score line on the final whistle; the U15s had to work a little harder for their title. Following a one all score draw with Newtonbreda at the end of extra time, the match went to penalties. Bangor Academy managed to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat with a 5-4 score in the penalty shoot out.

Football SuccessUnfortunately things didn't play out so well for the Year 12 team, who also faced Newtonbreda in the U16 final of the North Down Secondary Schools' League.

Bangor Academy put on a very strong show in the first half, achieving a two-goal lead by half-time, but fortune did not favour them in the second. Just before the final whistle, Newtonbreda managed an equalising goal to make the score 2 – 2.

As the match went to extra time, Bangor Academy managed to engineer one last penalty opportunity, but it wasn’t to be! The final score was 3 - 2 to Newtonbreda. We didn’t get the win we wanted but it was a fantastic match from two tenacious teams. Commiserations Year 12!

(Thanks to Mr Agnew (U15) and Scott Lindsay and Mr Donald for the U16 match reports.)
