Bangor Academy students celebrate selection for Queen’s University AcademyBangor Academy students celebrate selection for Queen's University Academy.

Five AS Level students at Bangor Academy are well on the path to realising their plans for a university education as they received news of their acceptance onto the Queen's Academy Programme.

This programme was set up to support Year 13 students who want to maximise their potential to progress to third-level education at institutions like Queen's. It aims to build academic and personal confidence and give students an insight into university life as they team up with their Queen's University 'buddy'.

A series of workshops and master classes will develop skills, whilst help with individual learning plans will widen career planning and choices. Fun residential activities are also planned to broaden horizons as the Bangor Academy participants will meet like-minded pupils from schools all over Northern Ireland.

There were only fifty places available on the scheme and the school is delighted that five applicants were successful. But it's not just these students who will benefit from this success. Participation in the scheme also means even stronger university links for all Sixth Formers at Bangor Academy.
