Academy’s Living Law Session Closes for 2017Bangor Academy Sixth Formers celebrated completion of the 2017 Living Law Programme run by the Attorney General of Northern Ireland.

Aspiring advocates from the Academy have been venturing into a world well beyond the normal school experience into Northern Ireland’s law and justice system, accompanied by Mrs Malcomson who enjoyed her final session ahead of her retirement in June.

Pupils attended five sessions in which they saw courts in session, visited the Public Prosecution Service and Stormont; took part in a mock trial and got expert advice and guidance from  the Attorney General, John Larkin QC and from the Director of PPS, Barra McGrory.

The Academy has taken part in this valuable scheme since 2011, always accompanied and  encouraged by  Mrs Malcomson. To thank her for her support over the years, some pupils from the 2016 and 2017 schemes gathered to reminisce on their lessons in law and to see the retirement card from the Attorney General’s Office to thank her for her involvement in the scheme.
