Local Police Assist Budding Journalists

E-mail Print

Ken-butler-police-visit-webConstable Ken Butler provided a valuable insight into local policing issues when he allowed Yr 11 Journalism students to interview him in school this week.

The main focus for investigation was the impact and consequences of so-called “legal highs” in Bangor – a local news issue several students have chosen to focus on as part of their GCSE Journalism controlled assignment. The controlled assignment task involves students researching a local news story and then using their journalistic skills to write up print and on-line versions of their exclusive story under exam conditions. Students are busy researching, taking pictures, conducting interviews, gauging public opinion and practising the written skills they will need for this controlled assessment.

Both the Journalism staff and students would like to thank Constable Butler for sharing his time and expertise.
