STEM EventSTEM SELLS - a look at how Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths are used in real jobs.

Year 10 students investigated the many and varied manifestations of STEM subjects in the real world at the SERC Stem Sells event in February. They got creative with recycled copper to make decorative sculptures, made their own DNA necklaces as they explored biomedical science and foraged for forensic evidence at a mock crime scene.

The “hands on” workshops gave pupils a taste of a range of jobs in everything from health to sports science; computing to agriculture and renewable energy to robotics.  Head of Careers, Mrs Anderson said: “This event offered a very valuable opportunity for Year 10 to consider why studying STEM subjects could open a world of interesting career paths.”
