iPad2 Launch EventBangor Academy and Sixth Form College aims to boldly go where no pupils in Bangor have gone before as they introduce Apple’s iPad 2 into their battery of strategies to enhance learning.

This latest initiative will see 32 iPads being piloted with one class to exploit the fast and interactive opportunities the latest tablet technology offers.
Only a handful of other schools have so far begun to explore the potential of the iPad and Bangor Academy is delighted to have secured the help of local ICT experts Studio On and Academia to support this venture. Teachers are excited about the new possibilities for lessons, but not as much as the lucky Year 10 class selected for the trial. One pupil said:

“These are awesome! The internet is so fast and the apps we’ve used so far are fun and good for learning. My favourite is the NASA app and I’m looking forward to using Garageband.”

Head teacher, Mr. Hyndman commented: “These new devices offer convenience, portability and access to an unimaginable variety of information and applications. I suspect we have yet to realise just how many and varied are the benefits for our pupils. Since we achieved the ICT Mark for excellence in June, we have been determined to keep looking for innovative teaching tools; this iPad trial fits the bill. We believe it is essential that our children are equipped for the modern world and we feel this is one way to do that.”
