Reading Partnership Celebration

Reading Partnership Celebration 2016More than 50 Year 13 Reading Tutors and their Year 8 tutees met for a celebration lunch to mark the end of the 2015/16 Reading Partnership scheme.

The party marked 30 completed reading sessions between the junior and senior pupils as they dedicated lunchtimes to work to improve Year 8 reading skills and confidence. Alongside the Library's Accelerated Reader scheme, this initiative has a really successful track record. But more than that, the participants have made new friends and fine-tuned reading skills which are so essential to educational progress.

Mrs Stockman thanked the English Department staff and Sixth Formers involved. The specially trained Sixth Form tutors have all gained valuable experience in mentoring younger pupils. She also commended the Year 8s on their diligence and progress.

Keep an eye on the website and our social media feeds to learn about training for the 2016/17 scheme in September.
