Sister Cities Art Competition Success

Art SuccessThe theme for the Sister Cities art competition was Shaping Your Community for a Greener Future.’ 

 In first place was Lisa , Year 13 with a highly creative and innovative collage of ‘Crawfordsburn at Sunset’.  She used a range of recycled papers and ‘heat pressed’ plastic bags layered on top of each other to produce her stunning work of art.

STEM EventSTEM SELLS - a look at how Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths are used in real jobs.

Year 10 students investigated the many and varied manifestations of STEM subjects in the real world at the SERC Stem Sells event in February. They got creative with recycled copper to make decorative sculptures, made their own DNA necklaces as they explored biomedical science and foraged for forensic evidence at a mock crime scene.

World Book DayAuthor “Speed Dating” at Bangor Academy helps readers renew their reading vows on World Book Day.

Bangor Academy’s English students played The World Book Day “Speed Dating” game to introduce them to authors with whom they’ve yet to fall in love. Students read the opening of an unfamiliar novel and then either recommended or warned against making a “date” with the new book.

Hopefully everyone found a new author to help them reignite their romance with reading!
