Mini Beasts on Tour

Trinity-Nursey-Event-webSome of Bangor Academy’s collection of mini beasts visited Trinity Nursery this week. Ms Morrison and Ms Sterritt introduced winged stick insects, Devil’s Head cockroaches and Brian, the giant African snail, to the inquisitive pre-schoolers. The visit was such a success that some of our stick insects have been adopted by the nursery for further study!

 

Crazy Hat and Tie Competition

Crazy Hat and Tie Competition WinnersEmma, Nicole and Morgan (Year 8) won the crazy hat and tie competition at the end of term disco. The money raised will be distributed between, The Mayor’s Charity Appeal, The Lifeboat Association, The Dogs’ Trust and Dogs for the Blind. We’ll update you on the totals raised next term.

Bangor Academy’s consort hits a high note at Bangor International Choral Festival

Consort SuccessCongratulations to the Consort who came first in the Secondary School section of the Bangor International Choral Festival. They were commended by the adjudicator on a “sensitively balanced” performance of “Adiemus” from “Songs of Sanctuary” by Karl Jenkins.

North Down Secondary Schools’ Football League Finals

Sports-NewsSome you win, some you lose!

Congratulations to the Year 11 and Year 9 football teams who are now U15 and U13 North Down Secondary Schools' League Champions respectively. The U13 team achieved a decisive victory against Knockbreda with a 6-0 score line on the final whistle; the U15s had to work a little harder for their title. Following a one all score draw with Newtonbreda at the end of extra time, the match went to penalties. Bangor Academy managed to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat with a 5-4 score in the penalty shoot out.

Shoebox Appeal sends treats from home to Camp Bastion

ShoeBox Campaign DonationMr Kirk would like to thank all those who contributed so generously to the Shoe Box appeal. Sixth Form have managed to fill 35 boxes, distributing a total of about £700 worth of items, each designed to help soldiers serving in Camp Bastion, Afghanistan.
