BTEC Firsts (Level 2) in Travel and Tourism is offered to Year 13 pupils wanting to enhance their GCSE profiles as the qualification is equivalent to 4 GCSEs.  Pupils complete 11 units over 1 year.  The course is currently 100% assignment based with no external examination.

BTEC Nationals (Level 3) in Travel and Tourism is offered to Year 13.  There are 2 courses available; the Diploma and Subsidiary Diploma.  The Diploma is equivalent to 2 A-Levels and is a 2 year course. Pupils will complete 12 units in the 2 year Diploma course.   The Subsidiary Diploma is equivalent to 1 A-Level and is also a 2 year course.  Pupils will complete 6 units in the 2 year Subsidiary course.

As the Level 3 course is the beginning of a vocational pathway into possible careers in the ever growing travel and tourism industry, we are keen to ensure pupils experience as much of the industry first hand.

We aim to:-

Develop knowledge and skills where possible to compliment the growing travel and tourism sector in Northern Ireland.

Ensure that pupils participate in as many field trips e.g. Giants Causeway, Titanic Visitors Centre, Crumlin Road Goal, Belfast Zoo and Bangor Tourist Information Centre.

We are also working to engage with local employers in the Travel and Tourism sector to explore the possibilities of work experience placements in Year 14.
